Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

September 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hello Everyone,

We just wanted to thank you all for a wonderful summer.  Not only did we learn so much more, and triple the number of our performances, but we also created the atmosphere of (dare I say) a family.  Well done, guys, and it could not have been done without all of you.  Thanks so much for enjoying sunburns, Shakespearian puns, and ice cream with us – you made it an awesome summer!  You all did a wonderful job with the shows, and it was very memorable.

As of right now, we’re looking at doing As You Like It and Henry V next summer – so keep us in mind.  You’ll probably be hearing about us around Christmas break, we’d love to see you all then if you’re interested, and we can confirm any rumors about the upcoming season.  The current emails we use with you will be how we contact you – so keep an eye on those inboxes!  :)

Everyone have a good school year, and behave :)

Love you guys!

For the month of September

September 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hey guys,

I know I sent out an email about all this, but just in case you need a reference or a reminder here’s what the month of September is looking like.

See you all later :)

Alexz & Bryant

September 5 (raindate: September 6) – We will be having a fundraiser at the Inn’s fireworks.  We ask anyone to attending to try to show up around 6pm, the fireworks will go off at approximately 8pm and the night will be done around 9pm.  Unfortunately, Bryant and I cannot attend so carpooling needs to happen amongst yourselves since vehicles need passes in order to get in.  Also, we would like you to wear your costumes for the night, so see Mrs. Robinson before Friday to get those since she will not be at the fireworks either.

September 19th – Save the date!  If we can Bryant and I would like to have a quick run through in order to smooth out the kinks and get rid of a few jitters.  Plan for the run-through to be about 6 or 7pm.  Maybe a Denny’s night, since we can’t on Sunday?  But only if we have practice.

September 20th – Our last performance at the McLaughlin Gardens.  It will be at 2pm, so we’ll meet at 1pm and carpool over.

New Picture Page

Hey guys!

Hello from North Carolina!  Just wanted to let you know that even though I couldn’t be there this week I’ve been thinking of you, and found time to finish up your new and improved picture page.  So check it out and show it off to anyone who couldn’t make it because it looks really cool.

I heard your audience was small but your show was good today, congratulations on that.  I was very glad to hear that you still put in the same enthusiasm to a small audience.  Do a really good job on tomorrows show – but remember it’s not your last performance!  Next week we’ll have a practice with your new Juliet.  You do have a small piece of homework too, I want every one to give me their conflicts for Labor Day weekend when I see you for practice.

Have a good week and I’ll see you soon

Alexz

Final Week of Regular Summer!

August 14, 2009 · 1 Comment

All right guys, we’re coming to the end already with only 4 performances left and 3 happening this week. We would like to remind you guys that next week we do plan on having a rehearsal to keep the play freash for the september 20th show.

But as for this coming week:

Tuesday (8/18): 4-7pm We will run through both shows in their entirety and hopefully get out earlier than 7pm.

Wednesday(8/19): Call to highschool is at 2pm. We will carpool up to Fiddlehead again. Curtain is at 3:15 pm.

Thursday (8/20): You are to be at the highschool for “re-blocking” of the two plays by 4pm. Curtain is at 7pm. Obviously we will not need all of that time for rehearsing so Robinson has offered a pizza dinner break (and now that it is on the internet wecan hold her to it).

It is panning out to be a big week for us guys so keep on your lines and energy. You did two of your best performances today and I want that same response from the audience all this week. Any conflicts you have with this schedule contact me immediately and we will work this out to what will be best for everyone.

Long-awaited Post

August 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Sorry guys,

I know we’ve been neglecting the blog – but you’ve been keeping us so busy :)   This week is another big one, and we’re sorry for all the practices, but you have a new Romeo to break in!  So, your schedule is posted below to remind you of what we’ve got to do this week.

I’m going to try to catch up with pictures from most recent venues.  I do have some good ones on my camera :)   In preparation for our last couple shows, make sure you look over your lines and cues because everything still needs to be tightened up.

See you tomorrow,

Alexz

Tuesday (8/11) - We’ll practice from 4-7pm and we will use all of our practice time.  We’re going to try to make it through the show twice, as well as get actor head shots.  For actor head shots we ask that everyone wear white or black plain shirts – you don’t have to be dressy, though.  Keep in mind your skin color, a fair white skin will look better with a white tshirt (the contrast of white skin and black clothing doesn’t look good).  I do promise to give you a break to walk away or even drive to Dunkins.

Wednesday (8/12) – We’ll  meet at the school for 10am, and make sure we’re packed up and leaving for 10:30am to make it to our 11:30pm performance with Fiddlehead.

Thursday (8/13) – This is a big day for us, since we have the L.A. Arts performances.  We will meet at the school for 10:30am to make sure we’re leaving for 11am, this way we’ll make it in plenty of time for our 12pm show of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  Later that day we have a 5pm show of Romeo and Juliet. Tentitively, we’re thinking of going to Dan’s house for the break between the two shows to get a bite to eat and hang out for a bit.  Also, we’re thinking about grabbing chinese after the evening show.  This will be discussed in detail tomorrow – anyone who is only casted in one of the two shows should email me seperately.

Up and Coming

July 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hey guys,

You had a wonderful week with your performances and “new things” you’ve brought to each one.  Remember that if your “new thing” isn’t personal or small you need to notify anyone it effects.

One or two broad notes:  we wanted to remind you about things like staying in character (the way you stand, walk, talk) and making sure you stay in character at all times.  Also we wanted to ask you to pick up your cues more.  You do not need to wait for your fellow actors to leave the stage necessarily, and if you don’t wait a lot of our dead air will be cut.

Unfortunately, the inside venues are harder to get pictures of, but a couple have been posted for you :)

Ricker Library

Poland Spring Inn, All Souls Chapel

Just a reminder for the next 10 days or so of performances and calls.  So far, you’re good on notes.  However, an email has been sent out reguarding the “closed performance” note for the campground shows.  Let me know if either you haven’t recieved it or have a question reguarding it.

*Don’t Forget* check over your August calender for any conflicts AT ALL so that Mrs. Robinson can book the last couple venues who are interested.

Thanks and see you soon,

Alexz & Bryant

Thursday (7/30) – Practice for Mercutio, Benvolio and Romeo (Romeo: a.s.a.p.) at 3pm, Juliet will join us later.  This practice is a special call, so if you’re not mentioned you get the day off  :)

Sunday (8/2) – Performance at the Poland Spring Campground (for closed audiences) at 2pm.  Call is at 1pm for a warm-up and then dress.  Dan Burgess has been given directions for what you need to do with that hour, Alexz will be watching from the store to make sure you behave.  After we have a BBQ and swimming at the lake for anyone who can stay – so bring your suits.

Monday (8/3) – Performance at the Auburn Library at 6:30pm.  We’ll meet at PRHS at 4pm to run/tweak/warm-up before driving over around 5:30pm.  Bryant may need to be in charge even though it’s a Romeo and Juliet night.

Tuesday (8/4) – Practice for Midsummer Night’s Dream from 4-7pm.

Wednesday (8/5) – Performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Harrison Library at 6pm.  Meet at the school for 4pm, and we’ll get there for 5pm to change and warm-up.  Tell rides to be back at PRHS for 8pm at the earliest.  (The ride between is approximately 40 minutes).

Sunday (8/9) - Midsummer Night’s Dream performance at 2pm at Poland Spring Campground (another closed audience – same situation applies).  Meet at the campground for 1pm again.  Afterwards Bryant has set up at Ultimate Frisbee game of cast vs. kids, anyone who is interested is welcome to play or watch.

Review & Upcoming

July 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hey guys,

We know this past week was a busy week, and we’d like to applaud you on your hard work.  The plays are coming along wonderfully.

Casco Library – We had a great time at the Casco Library, not to mention an amazing turn-out.  Not only is Midsummer developing more and more, but it was Romeo and Juliet’s first performance, and the audience was taken by both of them.  Now, from here, we start tightening, playing and tweaking our shows.

Auburn Library – This was one of your best shows of Midsummer Night’s Dream yet!  Not to mention you guys used the audience wonderfully, and the results were hysterical.  You definitely should remember and learn from the interaction work you did, and keep finding new ways to incorporate the audience.

Ricker Library – This performance was beautifully done, guys.  Although there were a couple quirks (I know we still need the poison) you did a very good job making it smooth and seamless.  We got many compliments about you from this show.

I know we’re starting to sound like a broken record; but what’s most important now is tightening up the shows and tweaking them.  Also, though, constantly playing with them and finding new things to do will keep up from getting bored.  We want to have fun with these, and now that we’ve become familiar we can loosen up and try a few things out.

Remember: Your homework for the first two performances of this week is to think of one thing you can do different per play.  Make it something fun for you to look forward, too.  (Keep in mind, though, that this shouldn’t be anything too drastic because it wouldn’t be fair to your fellow actors to catch them off guard with something we haven’t practiced.)  With that said, it doesn’t have to be a big thing – it can be very simple or small.  A perfect example is Romeo: if you have an idea for your posture or stance for Romeo, try it out at the chapel.  Or, it could be something as small as changing the way you say a certain line.

Have a good weekend,

Alexz & Bryant

Tuesday 7/28- We have a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the All Soul’s Chapel at the Poland Spring Inn at 2pm.  We’re asking you all to be there for 12pm sharp in order to walk through the show and fix any blocking that might need to be tweaked.  You can plan on being done by 3:30pm at the latest.

Wednesday 7/29- We have a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Ricker Memorial Library at 6pm.  We’re asking for everyone to show up at PRHS at 3pm for a practice since you haven’t reviewed the show recently.  We’ll carpool over around 5pm, and you can plan on being done by 7:30pm.  The rumor is that the cast wants to go to Ruby Rose after for ice cream.

Thursday 7/30- Practice is up for discussion after one of the shows.  If we were to have practice, it would be at the normal time (4-7pm)

Sunday 8/2- You have a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 2pm.  Your call depends on whether or not we have a Thursday rehearsal.  (Would anyone like to have a cast party afterwards?  BBQ and swimming at the lake?  Think about it.)

Check Your Email!

So, it’s possible that our Friar Lawrence will not be joining us tomorrow due to illness.  Instead of replacing him, though, we’re going to cut the Friar down the bare minimum.  In order to do that, there are some changes I’ve made to the script so please check your emails a.s.a.p. because they effect everyone!  (Especially Kayla Ide, Jackie Joncas, Mrs. Robinson – I’ve asked you guys to take on a line or two).

This means anyone who can be there an hour early tomorrow (4pm) it would be greatly appreciated so you could run the changes.  Unfortunately, I cannot be there, but Bryant will be.  Anyone who can’t make it earlier, be there for 5pm sharp.

See you all tomorrow,

Alexz
